Having a moment to yourself when you are a mum is so important.
I first started meditating in order to help with my sleep problems, which started around the time I first became pregnant. I’ve never really been a great sleeper. But I now manage to get plenty of deep sleep.
Lack of sleep can have a massive impact on life and how we interact with our kids. I truly believe that if you fix your sleep, the benefits will run deep into many other aspects of life. In short, getting lots of high-quality sleep can improve memory, happiness, immune system…the list goes on.
However, if getting good quality sleep just isn’t an option at the moment, then meditation is a great way to make up the deficit in physical and mental rest. It can help make spending time with your family a little more enjoyable even though you are feeling tired.
The deep relaxation technique has been shown to increase sleep time, improve sleep quality, and make it easier to fall asleep (and stay) asleep.
Start by trying it for 5 minutes each day and then gradually increase the amount of time as you get more comfortable with the practice!
